Studio Wani

I arrived in Hasami town yesterday and the weather was perfect, but this morning when I woke up, the sky was gray, and within twenty minutes it started raining.
It was the first day of our visit to Studio Wani, where the residency will be held for three weeks. The owners of the studio, Kenichiro and Mirjam, gave us an orientation and a tour of the studio.

In the afternoon, we went on a field trip to the ceramic museum and the Nakao mountain area. The town is well known for its old, large climbing kiln.
Rain was pouring during our field trip, but after learning a brief history of Hasami porcelain at the museum, visiting the Nakao mountain area meant a lot more to us.

I felt that the town had not changed much and this felt so precious. I took this photo there, you can see the six chimneys of the kiln as well as the large climbing kiln site.
